Tempering valves and why your water is lukewarm
If your hot water is on but never quite hot enough at the tap, the tempering valve is the usual suspect. It mixes cold water into the hot line so the water arriving at bathroom taps is below scalding temperature, which is a requirement for a reason. When the valve wears or scales up, it either mixes in too much cold and leaves you with tepid showers, or fails the other way and lets dangerously hot water through. Tempering valves are a service item. We test them on every hot water visit and replace them as a fixed-price repair when they are past it.

Hot water repairs start from $99. There is no call-out fee, day or night, and every job is quoted as a fixed price on site before we touch the system. If the unit needs replacing, you get a written price for the supply, install, removal of the old unit and the compliance paperwork, with $350 cashback. Because Mr Flow does gas fitting in-house, we can swap an electric tank for a gas continuous flow unit, run the new gas line and issue the compliance certificate in the one visit. And if the problem turns out to be water pressure or old pipework rather than the heater, the same plumber can sort the general plumbing while on site.
