Carbon monoxide: the risk you cannot smell
Natural gas has an odour added so you can smell a leak. Carbon monoxide does not. It is produced when gas burns without enough air, in a heater with a blocked flue, a cooktop with a yellow lazy flame or a hot water unit installed in an enclosed space. Headaches, drowsiness and nausea that clear up when you leave the house are the warning signs. Every appliance we install or service is checked for correct combustion, and if you have an older flued heater that has not been looked at in years, a service before winter is worth far more than it costs.

Compliance certificates, explained
When a licensed gas fitter completes work in NSW, they issue a certificate confirming the installation has been done to the standard and tested. You need it for your records, for your insurer, for the appliance warranty and for the sale of the property. Some tradespeople charge extra for it or forget to provide it. With Mr Flow it is part of every gas job, handed to you before we drive away, and a copy is kept on file if you ever need another.
